Introduction to School of Life Sciences
Founded in March 2001, School of Life Sciences Zhengzhou University is a pilot unit of the reform of “college-run schools” of Zhengzhou University, and currently has four undergraduate teaching departments: biotechnology, bioengineering, bioinformatics and plant science and technology. 1 comprehensive experimental center and 5 research institutes. There is a biology postdoctoral mobile station, a first-level doctoral degree authorization point in biology, a first-level master’s degree authorization point in biology, and a master’s degree authorization point in biology and medicine. The ESI of related disciplines such as biology and biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics, microbiology, agricultural science, plant and zoology supported by the college is ranked in the top 1% in the world. In the past five years, it has been approved for 77 national scientific research projects, 2 achievements have been transformed, a total of 17 patents have been approved in the United States, Japan and China, and won 2 second prizes and 2 third prizes of the Henan Science and Technology Progress Award.
Recruitment Positions and Support Policies
(I) Distinguished Professors
Positions include Chief Discipline Professor, Discipline Leader, Discipline Backbone, and Outstanding Talent.
General Requirements:
- No Criminal Record;
- Good health and the ability to engage in teaching and research;
- High-level talents such as professors, associate professors, assistant professors from domestic and foreign universities, and other high-level talents with equivalent academic qualifications are eligible to apply;
- Outstanding post-doctoral researchers can apply for Outstanding Talent positions through a green channel.
Support Policies:
- Internationally competitive salary and benefits, sufficient research start-up funds, and platform construction funds;
- Assistance in building excellent research teams and establishing internationally aligned career development platforms;
- Relocation allowance and access to university apartments;
- Assistance with children’s education; qualified distinguished professors may also arrange employment for their spouses;
- Candidates who are successfully selected into national-level talent programs through the university will be eligible for: National funding support; Matching grants from Henan Province (at a 1:1 ratio to the national funding amount); Additional financial support from the university.
Discipline Backbone Support Policies
- National institutional position, professor title;
- Annual salary of 500,000–700,000 RMB;
- Social security and housing provident fund paid by the university, approximately 100,000 RMB/year;
- Sufficient start-up and platform construction funds (up to 16 million RMB, including national and provincial matching funds);
- Relocation allowance of not less than 1-2.5 million RMB (including national and provincial matching funds), with access to university apartments;
- Additional doctoral student enrollment quotas of no fewer than three for “high-end, precise, cutting-edge, and urgently needed” talents;
- Assistance in building research teams without being restricted by secondary unit recruitment quotas;
- Support for unlimited postdoctoral recruitment, with basic personnel funds fully covered by the university.
Outstanding Talent Support Policies
- National institutional position;
- Annual salary of 400,000 RMB+;

(II) Young Faculty
Positions include Initial Appointment Professor, Initial Appointment Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor.

- Doctoral graduates and post-docs within the job-seeking period;
- Ability to engage in scientific research work;

- National institutional position;
- Annual salary of 250,000 RMB (pre-tax);

Assistant Professor Support Policies:
- National institutional position;
- Annual salary of 180,000 RMB (pre-tax);

(III) Postdoctoral Researchers
Position Requirements:
- No Criminal Record;
- Age should generally be under 32;
- Good educational background and systematic scientific research training;
- Doctoral graduates within the job-seeking period;
- Good health and the ability to engage in teaching and research;
- Meet the specific business conditions and requirements proposed by the cooperative supervisor and research team.
Support Policies:
- Salary structure: Base Salary + Research incentives + Henan Province grants;
- Professional technical level 9 salary;
- Research performance divided into three levels: Level I (pre-tax 200,000 RMB/year), Level II (pre-tax 100,000 RMB/year), Level III (pre-tax 60,000 RMB/year).
- National “Bo Xin” Program A (280,000 RMB), B (180,000 RMB), C (120,000 RMB); Central Plains Youth Bo Xin Innovation Talent (200,000 RMB/year);
- Competitive research start-up package;
- Cooperative supervisors and secondary employers may provide additional performance bonuses based on workload, which can be stacked with university benefits;
