The Jena University Hospital (JUH) invites applications for a
Professorship for Neonatology und Pediatric Intensive Care (W3 or W2 with tenure track to W3)
to be filled as of April 1st 2026. The prospective appointee (m/f/d) will take over the management of the Section for Neonatology and Pediatric Intensive Care, in the Dept. of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, at the JUH.
The person to be appointed (m/f/d) represent the subject within research, teaching and healthcare. It is expected that the research of the Faculty of Medicine and the certified Perinatal Center Level 1 will be strengthened.
Outstanding research achievements, successful acquisition of third-party funded projects, commitment to teaching and excellent teaching skills must be demonstrated. Our future colleague will cooperate in an interdisciplinary manner and contribute her or his knowledge to the dialogue with society.
We are looking for a leadership personality with high social competence, a pronounced understanding of organization, sensitivity to economic concerns, and a willingness to participate in the necessary processes of change at a university hospital.
The requirements for appointment are a university degree in medicine, recognition as a specialist in the field of pediatrics (Facharztanerkennung), and board-certified specialization in neonatology and/or pediatric intensive care (Zusatzweiterbildung), aptitude for teaching at a university level, particular aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate, as well as the habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements.
In the case of a first-time appointment to a professorship, the professorship should initially be filled as a W2 professorship for a fixed term of six years. Subject to a positive tenure evaluation, the appointment to a W3 professorship will take place after six years at the latest without the vacancy being readvertised.
In accordance with the decision of the responsible governmental institution (Kultusministerkonferenz) of 19.11.1999, the responsibility regarding clinical care will be regulated by a separate contract establishing a performance-based pay with constant and variably components.
