Job Details

Tenure-track faculty positions in metabolism, immunology and chemical biology at the Genomics Research Center, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan, ROC

The Genomics Research Center (GRC; https://www.genomics.sinica.edu.tw/ ) is organized into three Divisions – Chemical Biology, Medical Biology, and Metabolic Sciences (formerly the PCG program)- aiming to translate discoveries from genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and glycomics into diagnostics and therapeutics for precision health and medicine. Candidates with expertise complementary to the existing research programs are also encouraged to apply.

Metabolic Sciences Division

Seeking candidates focused on metabolic and bioenergetic mechanisms relevant to human diseases (e.g., metabolic and chronic inflammatory diseases). We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise (or a strong interest) in metabolomics/lipidomics and metabolic flux analyses to interrogate physiological or pathological processes at the interface of metabolism and immunology.

Medical Biology Division

Seeking candidates with expertise in immunology, particularly those who apply single-cell/spatial systems biology to study tumor immunology. Candidates with expertise in using stem cell/organoid tissue development to model human disease are also of interest.

Chemical Biology Division

Seeking expertise in chemical biology with innovative approaches (e.g., synthesis or identification of bioactive molecules/metabolites informed by metabolomics) and/or AI-assisted drug design/development for disease diagnostics and therapeutics.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) with appropriate postdoctoral experience. Successful recruits will be appointed at the levels of Assistant, Associate, or Full Research Fellow (equivalent to Assistant/Associate/Full Professor). A generous start-up package and continuing intramural support will be provided.

Research Environment

The GRC offers a stimulating research environment supported by both extramural and long-term intramural funding. The center hosts several core facilities managed by Specialists, including NMR, Peptide, Mass Spectrometry, metabolomics, Glycan, Pathology, Flow Cytometry, imaging, and Ultra-High-Throughput Drug Screening Facilities; additional state-of-the-art resources are available across the Academia Sinica campus. English is the official language for seminars and lectures; Chinese proficiency is not required.

Academia Sinica comprises 24 institutes and 9 research centers across three divisions – Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Humanities and Social Sciences. There are currently over 8,000 research fellows, research technicians, assistants, and administrative staff. GRC is a research centers within the Life Sciences, located on Academia Sinica’s Taipei Campus.
