The Jena University Hospital (JUH) invites applications for a

Professorship for Neuroimmunology (W2)

to be filled at the earliest possible date. The person to be appointed (m/f/d) should represent the subject within research and teaching. We are looking for a person with a proven track record in the field of neuroimmunology, for example through own research on cellular neuroimmunological mechanisms, Gliapathology or inflammation-induced mechanisms of neurodegeneration. In case of appropriate qualifications, it is possible to work in clinical care, with a particular focus on neuroimmunology.

The candidate will have outstanding research achievements based on publications and third-party funding. The professorship should significantly strengthen the neuroimmunology focus of the Department of Neurology and the Section for Translational Neuroimmunology and is supported by funds from the Hermann and Lilly Schilling Foundation. Participation in the main research areas of the Faculty of Medicine (sepsis and infection medicine, ageing and age-associated diseases, medical optics and photonics) is desirable.

We are looking for a leadership personality with high social competence and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner as well as a strong organizational understanding.

The requirements for appointment are a university degree in medicine or in the natural sciences, aptitude for teaching at a university level, particular aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate, as well as the habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements.

Appointment as a professor with non-clinical tasks shall be for life as a civil servant, provided that the legal requirements are met.

In accordance with the decision of the responsible governmental institution (Kultusministerkonferenz) of 19.11.1999, the responsibility regarding clinical care will be regulated by a separate contract establishing a performance-based pay with constant and variably components.
