The Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University offers the position of a
Endowed Professorship (W3) for “Translational Head and Neck Oncology” (f/m/d)
to be filled for the first time as soon as possible.
The endowed professorship is provided by the University Medical Centre Mannheim GmbH and will represent the subject of ‘Translational Head and Neck Oncology’ in patient care, research and teaching. The successful candidate will be entrusted with the management of the clinical section ‘Translational Head and Neck Oncology’, which is assigned to the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University Medical Centre Mannheim.
The successful candidate should be recognized in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of tumor diseases of the head and neck area. Well-founded practical experience in the clinical management of patients is expected in order to be able to further develop the modern care for affected patients through scientific projects and clinical studies. A particular focus of the position is on the translation of scientific evidence into clinical practice. In research, the ability to connect to one or more of the faculty’s research foci and cross-sectional areas, in particular the Mannheim Comprehensive Medical Systems Technology Campus (MCSC) and the Mannheim Comprehensive Tumor Campus (MCTC) is required. In teaching, participation in the design and further development of teaching in otorhinolaryngology within the framework of the MaReCuM model study program is also expected.
Prerequisites for application are a completed university degree in medicine, a qualified doctorate, and successful teaching experience. In accordance with Article 47, paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg a Habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent scientific qualifications are an additional requirement, as well as the recognition as a board-certified specialist in ear, nose and throat medicine. Internationally visible, excellent achievements in research, teaching and patient care, relevant teaching experience, successful acquisition of third-party funding and didactic competence are expected, as well as cooperation and leadership skills and commitment to academic self-administration.
The position is tenured. Professors who are responsible for patient care at a university hospital are generally employed permanently under private law in accordance with Article 49, paragraph 2a of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg. The professorship is associated with the management of the clinical section “Translational Head and Neck Oncology” in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery of the Universitätsklinikum Mannheim GmbH. A separate contract will be concluded with the Universitätsklinikum Mannheim GmbH.
